Training
Our instructor, Holly Winkeljohn, will take in one horse at a time for training.  The busy lesson schedule and devotion to her horse Isabella prevent more than one at a time.

Training provided includes starting the young horse under saddle, tuning up the older horse, and dressage training.  Horses who have not been backed are required to stay at the farm for a minimum of 60 days.

Starting the young horse under saddle includes lounging, long lining, sacking out, saddling, bridling, and teaching the horse to carry a rider and respond to verbal and physical cues.  Owners are encouraged to take lessons on their horse before taking their horse home.  After all, it matters not how good the horse is for the trainer - it only matters if the owner and horse are comfortable working together. Holly's goal is to explain human cues to the horse while also explaining horse language to the owners! She approaches each case with the end result in mind. Training a kid's mount can be quite different from training a stallion prospect, and it's important that each horse is worked to best suit the intended rider.

Testimonials
"Holly,
I can't begin to express how overjoyed and impressed I am with your training of Corsair. Your gentle yet firm manner and extensive equine insight has progressed him into a straight, forward moving, focused partner. Corsair has learned so much in such a short time with you. He is now very light in the bridle, responsive to leg and seat, and a joy to ride both in the arena and on a relaxing trail ride. He has learned to keep his mind on his work and rider while blocking out distractions, which is not easy for a young stallion. I am confident that I can take him anywhere with anyone and we can both enjoy the experience. I couldn't ask for a better horse. Corsair's future promises to be stellar!
Thank you!"

"It is without a doubt that if it wasn't for Holly Winklejohn, I would not be enjoying riding my mare as much as I do... to this day....!!!
When I first got Kaya she was not broken to ride and with the careful guidance and constant encouragement of Holly's expertise we are now both enjoying our riding time together, both in the arena and on the trails .... and Kaya has even gone on to be a lesson horse and is now jumping!!! I am so proud of my girl! Thank you Holly... we couldn't have done it without you!!"
